OpenAI models and Codex agentic workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden
OpenAI and Google Cloud announced on October 21, 2026 a partnership bringing OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud's Model Garden, giving customers native access to the models for complex agentic workloads.
The pairing targets enterprises modernizing their software development lifecycle: OpenAI models become available inside the environment where Google Cloud teams already work, alongside Google Cloud's access controls, centralized data governance and high-performance infrastructure - a pitch aimed at regulated industries.
On the commercial side, Google Cloud customers can purchase OpenAI frontier models through Model Garden via the Google Cloud Marketplace, and enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments can draw down those commitments for the purchases.
OpenAI models will also soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent, giving enterprise customers model-choice flexibility across tasks, according to the announcement.
'Google Cloud is a leading platform for developers and businesses building AI agents, writing software, and putting AI to work,' said Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president and co-founder. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian framed it as expanding model selection so customers pick the right model for each job.
For buyers, the practical effects are procurement (GCP commitment drawdowns lower the barrier to trying OpenAI models), data governance (workloads stay under Google Cloud controls), and multi-model routing inside Google tooling; teams already standardized on Vertex AI gain another first-class option rather than a separate vendor integration.
