Google rolls out Universal Cart in the U.S. across Search and Gemini

October 15, 2026 · Central Time

Google announced the U.S. rollout of Universal Cart on October 15 across Google Search and the Gemini app. The tool was previewed earlier in the year; this announcement concerns rollout, not a new global launch.

Google says shoppers can save products from different retailers in one cart and return to them across its services. Its examples combine items saved in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app.

The company says the cart can notify users about price drops and stock returning. It links those features to its Shopping Graph of more than 60 billion product listings. That figure describes Google's catalog, not the number of retailers or products guaranteed to support every checkout feature.

Google also describes payment-method suggestions based on card benefits through Google Wallet, along with relevant promotion codes. These are company-described shopping aids, not proof that the service finds the lowest total price or best card for every purchase.

The announcement offers checkout with Google Pay inside the cart at participating merchants or transfer to the merchant's own cart. It names examples including Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair and many Shopify merchants, without promising every store participates.

Google says the merchant remains the seller of record and provides confirmations and customer support. It describes checkout powered by the Universal Commerce Protocol, while distinguishing this practical cart from its separate work on agentic capabilities. The notice does not establish blanket authority for autonomous purchases or worldwide availability.
