GitHub adds CSV exports for Code Quality license audits

October 25, 2026 · Central Time

GitHub announced on October 15 that organizations and enterprises can download a CSV report of GitHub Code Quality license usage. The report helps administrators reconcile the license count with their own records; downloading it does not change a subscription.

The export identifies each active committer consuming a Code Quality license. It also lists repositories that received that person's commits in the last 90 days. That activity window is part of the report, not a promise that every provisioned account consumes a license.

The report indicates whether each committer is unique to a single repository or organization. Those details can help administrators distinguish a person contributing in one place from someone contributing across several projects.

GitHub says the unique-committer information can help identify where disabling Code Quality could free licenses for the next billing period. It explicitly says this would not change the current license charge. The export therefore does not establish an immediate refund or current-month saving.

To find the report, an administrator opens Billing and licensing for the organization or enterprise, selects Licensing, and downloads the CSV from the Code Quality card. GitHub lists availability on GitHub Team and GitHub Enterprise Cloud.

For procurement and engineering teams, the useful next step is to compare the exported activity with the projects they intend to cover. The CSV is an audit aid, not an automatic spending cap or a recommendation to remove security coverage. Any change to coverage remains a separate administrative decision.
